Jewelry/gem Care

Jewelry

  • Do not use chemical jewelry cleaner on any pieces purchased from me! Harsh enough cleaners can damage certain types of gems and metals. For pieces that may need cleaning, I include a complimentary polishing cloth that should remove any surface tarnish from metals like silver and gold.

  • If the included polishing cloth gets too dirty or you’re looking for a more heavy-duty option, I use the Pro Polishing Pads and the Pro Polishing Cleaning Cloth to make all my metals glow.

.925 Solid Sterling Silver

Sterling silver may tarnish over time with exposure to elements, water, and skin contact. This can be minimized with proper care (like avoiding contact with water and perfume) and cleaning. If cared for properly, solid silver jewelry can last for generations to come.

Solid 14k/18k Gold

Genuine 14k/18k yellow, white, or rose gold will not tarnish. I would still recommend taking all the same precautions I’ve listed above to keep it in its best condition, but these pieces will last like no other.

Gems

  • When purchasing a gem or a piece of gemstone jewelry, it is always a good idea to look into the stone type, hardness, and inclusions to see how durable it will be when worn.

  • The majority of the North Carolina gems I facet contain beautiful inclusions and internal character that make them one of a kind. They have thoroughly tested to make sure they are stable, and they should hold up perfectly for daily wear. I always recommend giving natural gems like this a little bit of extra attention & care though, as they may not be quite as indestructible as their solid gem counterparts.
